Reflecting on Last Week's Is (Isa) Meditation

Important Musings From the Rune Is (Isa)

Today I find myself reflecting on a meditation from last week. My intention for the meditation was to connect with the rune Is (Isa). In the meditation, I found myself on an icicle (picture a witch riding her broom, but made of ice!). The icicle was passing through the eye of a golden needle. And although this was happening on a microscopic level (as needles obviously tend to be small), I found myself staring at this very large hoop as I passed through.

Humanity is Being Refined
This reminded me of the process of refinement we are going through as a collective. Quite on par with the clarifying element of Is! According to modern shamanic practitioners (I’ve heard this from both Quechuan and Northern practitioners), humanity is going through a rebirthing process right now. We are no longer in the birth canal and we are not yet on the other side, rebirthed into a new version of ourselves.

We are currently going through the “eye of the needle.”

Passing Through the Eye of the Needle
But what does this mean? It means that we must release the outdated things (energies, stories, dynamics, patterns, ancestral wounds, etc.) that are not inherently “ours.” We are no longer to carry such things. We simply can’t. Things will continue to get increasingly more uncomfortable if we don’t. (Though, I imagine there will still be discomfort because growth, change, and evolution, for lack of better phrasing, is uncomfortable too - after all, we are exiting our comfort zones.)

We are tasked with the very challenging (but also highly liberating!) task of unburdening ourselves energetically.

It’s up to us to make these changes on an individual level, which will then positively impact the collective level.

This is not easy work to do. The process of refinement is often a painful one because it requires unlearning the old paradigm and learning (creating) a whole new skill set, one that’s often unrecognizable in comparison to the previous skill set.

The Uncomfortable Process of Refinement
In this process of refinement, we face our pain, our fear, the lies we tell ourselves, the trauma we’ve inherited, and the struggles we’ve been through. But on the other side, is a beautiful, more empowered version of ourselves, one that can more effectively embrace, embody, and share our gifts and our strengths with the world. One that is clearer and more aligned.

Every time we work with the Runes, our Spirit allies, parts of the multi-faceted soul, or do any other kind of Spirit/Shamanic work with such intentions, we contribute to this process of refinement.

A Supportive Pagan Community Space
It is my hope that through The Ash, Oak + Yew Collective, we can support each other as we navigate this process; that our community is a space where we honor traditional elements while creating our own way of being during these modern times that call for change and transformation.

The (second) image I’ve created today does not accurately represent what I saw in my meditation, but I think it’s beautiful nonetheless.

I believe Is is informing my next Rune painting!

Many blessings,
